Experience a real brush with nature! The National Aviary’s summer outdoor free-flight bird show, FliteZone, offers up-close encounters with rare and endangered birds from around the world. It’s an unforgettable opportunity to witness the amazing sight of owls, vultures and macaws flying just inches overhead, just as they would in their native habitat. The National Aviary’s Rose Garden creates a natural setting for the show. Audience members seated on the lawn are treated to flybys from a colorful flock of macaws and amazing birds of prey, including Dumbledore, a massive Eurasian eagle owl, and Robin, a hooded vulture. Audiences will learn about efforts to protect wild bird species and their habitats, and with the help of a blue-fronted Amazon parrot, will be able to contribute to bird conservation programs. The National Aviary’s popular
African penguins will also make an appearance.
